I didn’t say a word. I just folded my hands on my lap and waited. “There’s someone else,” he said finally.
“Her name’s Vanessa. You know her.”
“And I want to do right by her.”
I smiled faintly. “Do right by her?”
“She deserves stability. She’s carrying my child.” He shifted awkwardly.
“We’re planning to start a family, and I… I think it’s best if we separate. You’ll be taken care of, of course.”
I almost laughed. Taken care of.
He continued, “I’ll give you a settlement. The house will stay with me; it’s better for the baby. You can move into the condo downtown for a while.
